Now more than ever, going to the grocery store can seem daunting and overwhelming...
People think that just looking at the nutritional facts is important, but that’s only part of what people should really consider. GMO's, pesticides, sustainability, fair trade, who owns whom, and what their profits are going to support, should all be considered. With that in mind, there's a lot to contemplate when walking through the aisles with your shopping cart now a days. But did you ever stop to think about how and where you’re shopping is affecting your community?
Voting with your dollar is, in my opinion, the best way to affect change in a consumer dependent industry. Buying from small, independently owned companies that share your values about nutrition, business, and the environment is not only investing in your health but also in the future.
As a grocery buyer, I am now not only shopping for myself, but for my community. I try to support the brands that are independently owned or owned by corporations that support organic practices and business transparency.
In a world where profit has trumped ethics for most industries, it is comforting to know that there are some truly wonderful companies doing their part to make this world a better place.
Nature's Path is a leader among these companies. As a full service grocery store, we can't always fully boycott all of the brands that are owned by large corporations, but we do get to focus on and support the heroes of organics like Nature's Path. They use sustainable and organic farming & sourcing practices to provide us with a product line of amazingly tasty & nutritious cereal, granola bars, oatmeal, waffles, toaster pastries and breads. From gluten free to whole grain, kid friendly to sophisticated super foods, Nature's Path has your morning covered.
Celebrating 30 years as an independently owned, family run company, Nature's Path has proven their commitment to both their customers and their community. I'd like to say that they are trailblazers for the organic movement but their commitment to sustainability somehow makes that term seem too harsh.
Nature's Path is a socially responsible company that not only makes delicious organic foods for the entire family, but puts their money where their mouth is by being involved in and donating to many worthy organizations to help protect the environment, protect endangered species, protect our right to know about GMOs, and to help educate our children about all of these important topics. I'd like to say “Thank you!” to Nature's Path for being so awesome! Now time for a bowl of Qi'a!
